The singer-songwriter from Donaghmede's album is stacked with features.
Set for release on the 30th of November, Union is the upcoming album from Damien Dempsey laden with collaborations as the Dubliner provides new spins on several classics of his as well as brand new material.
“I love collaborating with people who move me with their music and lyrics and soul and voice," said Dempsey when explaining the process of creating the record. "And when we collaborate with music we always learn something from each other and take a little bit of each other’s spirit and magic away with us. You always come up with something that you wouldn't have if alone, souls and minds mingle, kindred spirits connect and dance, creativity crackles, and the results can be wonderful. Union is a myriad of styles and a bit of a melting pot but I adore melting pots and I reckon there’s something for everyone here.”
The first single taken from the album and released into the wild is 'Apple of My Eye', with help from the indie alt-folk trio Wildwood Kin. Dempsey originally wrote the song "in a boiling basement in Brooklyn in August 2001", and said he felt the Devon natives were a perfect fit, having previously been drawn to their talents after performing with the group.
“I performed with these amazing ladies in the Roundhouse in London last St Patricks day, and they were deadly. Very unique sound, amazing voices and harmonies, and knock out songs sung with passion and guts, they're very special."
