Damien Rice and ROE's performances for Van Morrison's 75th birthday celebration are going live tonight.
Following stunning performances for 'Rave On, Van Morrison' last night, we're bringing you another special evening of back-to-back Van covers – with Damien Rice performing 'Crazy Love', followed by ROE performing 'Lifetimes'.
Over the course of the YouTube event, celebrating Van Morrison's 75th birthday, you can expect even more renditions of his remarkable songs from some of the most iconic names in the country – including President Michael D. Higgins with Bill Whelan, Hozier, Sinéad O'Connor, Bob Geldof, and Glen Hansard , to name just a few.
One of Ireland's most celebrated singer-songwriters, Damien Rice initially came to prominence with indie-rock band Juniper. He rose to international attention as a solo artist with the release of his Shortlist Music Prize-winning debut album O in 2002 – followed by 9 in 2006 and the Rick Rubin-produced My Favourite Faded Fantasy in 2014.
Acclaimed multi-instrumentalist ROE has been making serious waves of late with her unique brand of self-styled 'grump electro pop'. Over lockdown, she performed the Snow Patrol album Final Straw with Gary Lightbody and Rossborough as part of a special live-streamed gig, and released her new EP, Things We Don't Talk About, last week.
Damien Rice's performance of 'Crazy Love' (7pm Irish Standard Time) and ROE's performance of 'Lifetimes' (8pm) premiere tonight, August 24, on the Hot Press YouTube channel.
