Danny Carroll will release his debut album I Am The Cheese this March.
Today, Danny Carroll has released the first single entitled ‘Golden Hour” from his upcoming album I Am The Cheese, which will be out on March 1.
Carroll has been a part of the Dublin music scene for many years now having been the co-curator of A Litany of Failures - a compilation series showcasing independent artists across Ireland.
After working on various projects he finally found time to sit down with Belfast producer Chris W. Ryan to create two new songs which ultimately began his journey working on his first solo album.
Carroll released his debut single back in January 2023 entitled ‘Affection’. Then in the following September he released his second single “Cheesemonger’. This indie-folk tune became a part of the compilation A Litany Of Failures: Volume IV.
On March 1, his debut album I Am The Cheese will be released on vinyl and digital. Carroll has also released a music video for ‘Golden Hour’ which was created with the help of renowned photographer and videographer Niamh Barry. The video also stars Cork actor Fianna Nolan as the protagonist.

In an Instagram post Carroll describes the new track as a lyrically "very open-hearted idealistic song".

“I’m quite proud of the arrangement on this track.” Carroll says. “There’s a lot of experimentation with lapsteel and melodica through a Leslie organ speaker and that creates a suitably floaty feeling in keeping with the sentiment of the song. Lyrically it’s very much about giddy infatuation and maybe the best attempt I’ve made at an unapologetic love song. Bonus points for anyone who spots the Wilco pun in there.”
Carroll’s new single is now available to stream on all platforms here. You can also watch his new music video here.
I Am The Cheese is now available for pre-save on Spotify here.
