The EP features covers of classic Samantha Mumba, Paul Brady, The Bothy Band, Thin Lizzy, and Van Morrison tracks.
Dublin-based neo-soul group Danny G & The Major 7ths have released an EP of covers, Ceol For The Soul.
The five-track covers EP reinterprets classic Irish songs from some of the country's most influential artists, including Samantha Mumba, Paul Brady, The Bothy Band, Thin Lizzy, and Van Morrison.
"There are so many great Irish songs from different genres – folk, rock, pop and traditional Irish music," said Danny G. "I've put a neo-soul twist on some of my favourites, whilst also getting back to my traditional roots."
He explained that he plays the Irish flute and tin whistle on four of the EP's tracks.
"All five are so rich and full of soul, and to my ears are already soul songs," he added.
The EP includes guest artists Sive and Richard Farrell, who appear on the covers of Paul Brady's 'The Island' and Thin Lizzy's 'Look What The Wind Blew In,' respectively.

"I've known Sive for a long time and had always wanted to do a track together," he said about collaborating with Sive. "Her voice is gentle yet strong and is perfectly suited to the melody of the song."
"Richard Farrell is one of my oldest friends and collaborators, we used to play together in a group called History of Harry," Danny G added. "He is a real blues singer and I knew his energy and range would be a perfect it for this song."
