15 years after the release of his last solo album, The Holy Pictures, David Holmes has announced his long-awaited new LP, Blind On A Galloping Horse – set to be released on November 10, via Heavenly Records.
To coincide with the announcement, the Belfast-born DJ and producer has shared a track from the project, 'Necessary Genius', featuring Raven Violet.
The single artwork features an image of Sinéad O'Connor, designed by Jimmy Turrell, which previously appeared on the wall of The Social, in London.
'Necessary Genius' also name-checks Nina Simone, Samuel Beckett, John Coltrane, Lyra McKee, Terry Hall, and more.

Blind On A Galloping Horse is described as a "14-track interrogation of the last decade" – including watching "a decaying, fraying Britain visibly buckling in real time while tending to his own battles with mental health."
The album features updated versions of previously released singles 'Hope Is The Last Thing To Die' and 'It’s Over If We Run Out Of Love', as well as a recording of an unreleased song by Holmes’ late friend Andrew Weatherall, 'I Laugh Myself To Sleep'.
The album also features spoken word contributions from Afghan and Ukrainian refugees, a Palestinian ambulance driver, and French and Irish observers of the UK’s turmoil over the past decade.
Over the course of a remarkable career, Holmes has produced five of his own albums, and over 30 film soundtracks. With his band Unloved, he created and curated the music for the acclaimed series Killing Eve.

In recent years, Holmes was also working with Sinéad O'Connor on a new album, as he discussed in Hot Press' special tribute issue, dedicated to the late Irish singer.
"It was wonderful to watch her work in the studio and see how she perfected things," he recalled. "There wasn’t a whole lot of producing to do, because when she sang there was nothing she didn’t give you. I just hit the ‘record’ button and sat back in wonderment. It was just pure, nuanced emotion and storytelling in its most beautiful, delicate, raw form.”
