The Dundalk singer-songwriter's upcoming tour includes a headline show at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin.
Following the release of three volumes of Isolation Tapes over lockdown, as well as a live album, Alchemy & Prose, David Keenan is back with a new single, 'Peter O'Toole's Drinking Stories' – taken from his highly anticipated sophomore album, out later this year.
The release of the new track, and accompanying music video, coincide with news of an upcoming tour of Ireland, the UK and Europe later this year, including headliners at Limelight 1, Belfast (Oct 13); Cyprus Avenue, Cork (Dec 6); Dolan's, Limerick (8); Roisin Dubh, Galway (9); Spirit Store, Dundalk (10); and the Olympia Theatre, Dublin (12).
Keenan's upcoming album follows 2020's A Beginner's Guide to Bravery – described by Hot Press's Pat Carty as "brilliant record" and a "work of art". The album charted at No.1 on the Official Irish Independent Album Charts and No.6 on the Official Irish Album Charts, and was also one of the best-selling vinyl releases by an Irish artist in 2020.
The album release coincided with an unforgettable sold-out concert at the Olympia Theatre in Dublin. The concert film based on the gig, Alchemy & Prose, debuted at the prestigious London Doc’N’Roll Festival in November, and was accompanied by a live album.
'Peter O Toole's Drinking Stories' is the first tale in the next chapter from the Dundalk singer-songwriter – as he continues to grow in confidence, embrace new sounds and stretch boundaries.
