The musician's genre-fluid album Idiot Check is set to include lo-fi, traditional folk and experimental upbeat tracks.
Irish folk singer David Kitt shared his new double A-side single 'Till The End' and 'Balances' from his upcoming album Idiot Check today, featuring vocals from fellow Irish artist Katie Kim.
Ahead of the album release on 31st March, the Kerry-based musician is embarking on a UK and Ireland tour which kicks off in London on 27th February.
Both new singles feature Waterford-based singer-songwriter Katie Kim, who is already well known in the alternative folk rock scene, having released four studio albums to date. Her latest LP venture is Hour of the Ox (2022). Kim often uses a loop station at her performances to combine the atmospheric sound of classical and electrical instruments.

The genre-bending Irish musician and producer Kitt said about his AA-side release:
"I decided to release 'Till The End' / 'Balances' as a double a-side digital single because they come together on the album and they feel thematically and musically connected. They’re both abstract songs that explore commitment, memory, the miracle of endless love and the transformative powers of awe and wonder."
"They both feature Katie Kim on vocals, her vocals on 'Till The End' really transformed the song and made it one of my favourite pieces of music that I’ve ever been involved in. Thanks Katie!"

On Idiot Check, Kitt draws on his experience in various genres to create an ambient sound with experimental and electric touches that complement the traditional sound of folk music.
The album was produced, recorded, and written by Kitt between 2016 and 2022 in Dublin and Paris. Some of the writing took place in the remote town of Ballinskelligs in south-west Kerry, which later became the artist's home.

For his new album the musician found inspiration by "the lack of environmental noise and distractions" and smoothly blends acoustic and electronic elements. It depicts the circumstances of Kitt's personal journey as a songwriter and producer.
Idiot Check comes with many guest artists, such as Dylan Lynch from alt-pop band Soda Blonde, Canadian singer-songwriter Mary Margaret O'Hara, and Katie Kim, who provides backing vocals on several tracks. The album will be released by RE:WARM Records.

At some gigs, David Kitt will share the stage with David Gray, with whom he has often toured as a support act.
As a musician with more than 20 years of experience, Gray is comfortable performing live and will assist Kitt in achieving the experimental sound that comes with Idiot Check.
