A blast from the past as we look back to the Irish listeners' favourite singles from recent years.
Today Ariana Grande's hit song 'thank u, next' dominates the no.1 spot in the Irish charts as well as the global Spotify Charts. Hot Press looks back at the chart-toppers on this day from 5, 10 and 15 years ago.
2013
The Irish charts saw 'Somewhere Only We Know' rise to the top. The original Keane track was re-recorded by Lily Allen for the John Lewis ad, and went down very well with Irish audiences that were clearly in the festive spirit.
2008
Beyoncé's hit song 'If I Were A Boy' held the no.1 spot ten years ago. The track from the I Am... Sasha Fierce album is one of the singer's five number ones in the UK and Ireland charts.

It wouldn't be a true look into the Irish charts without a Westlife mention. The Irish boyband released the single 'Mandy', heading straight for no.1. As the band prepares for its upcoming 2019 tour, it will be interesting to see if the golden oldies will re-enter the charts.
