The release will feature material from two of Gibbard's sessions with the late musician.
Death Cab For Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has announced a new 7" vinyl release, The Swift Sessions, containing previously unreleased material from two sessions with Richard Swift, who passed away in July.
Swift Sessions, an exclusive Record Store Day release, features covers of the Monkees' 'Me and Magdalena' and Teenage Fanclub's 'The Concept'. Proceeds from the record will go to Swift's family, as well as MusiCares and Music Support.
In a statement on Twitter announcing the release, Gibbard spoke about Swift's death:
"All of us who knew and loved Rickard Swift are still reeling from the loss. Thankfully, he left us with a large body of work to remember him by. And while I wish it were under other circumstances, I am beyond proud to share some of the work we did together. He was a brilliant human being the likes of which I have rarely encountered in my career. Rest in Peace, Richard."
