There's champagne to be had in the camp of Irish singer-songwriter Declan de Barra, as he's inked a US deal.
de Barra has spent the year building up a solid following across Europe after signing up with the Griot Agency and gaining rave reviews for his debut album, Song of a Thousand Birds. The success has led to him being the first overseas artist to sign with Translation Loss Records.
The US label will release the album, which features musicians such as Rónán Ó'Snodaigh, Jape and Turlough from The Chapters, on CD and vinyl in early 2007. It will be distributed by Red/Sony North America.
Staying this side of the Altantic, he's also lined up a rather lengthy European tour, including a one-off Irish date. The full tour is:
