Demi Lovato is identifying as non-binary and has officially changed their pronouns to "they/them".

The Dancing with the Devil singer told their fans the news in a video and series of tweets shared today.

"Today is a day I'm so happy to share more of my life with you all - I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary & will officially be changing my pronouns to they/them moving forward," they wrote on their social platforms.

The singer revealed in their video that the revelation has arrived roughly after a year and a half of "healing and self-reflective work".

In 2018 the 'Cool for the Summer' singer suffered a near-fatal overdose. They documented their recovery in recent docu-series Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil on Youtube.

They told their fans in the video, “I feel that this best represents the fluidity I feel in my gender expression, and allows me to feel most authentic and true to the person I both know I am and still am discovering".

The 28-year old pop-singer also made it clear that they are still learning about themselves, adding "I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson".

"I'm doing this for those out there that haven't been able to share who they truly are with their loved ones," Demi added.

"Please keep living in your truths & know I am sending so much love your way."

Lovato also announced last week that they would be starring in a new unscripted series called Unidentified with Demi Lovato exploring UFOs and aliens.
