The chart success coincides with news that the Rathcoole singer-songwriter raised over €20,000 for Barretstown from his Dublin busk.
Following its eagerly anticipated release last week, Sonder – the second album from Dermot Kennedy – has debuted at No.1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart.
The album, which follows 2019's chart-topping Without Fear, was described by Kate Brayden in Hot Press as a powerful showcase of "his colossal voice, with Kennedy's trademark gravelly tone oozing passion at every turn."
"Having previously drawn influence from Damien Rice, Glen Hansard and J. Cole on Without Fear, Sonder sticks to somewhat familiar, big-lunged love song territory," the review continues. "But the humanity – and phenomenal popularity – of his voice is undeniable."
Dermot's success on the Irish charts brings Taylor Swift's reign at No.1 with Midnights to an end.
Elsewhere in the Top 5, Bruce Springsteen's Only The Strong Survive drops to No.3, Harry Styles' Harry's House is at No.4, and Drake & 21 Savage's Her Loss is at No.5.
