Dermot Kennedy to play Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival in June

Dermot Kennedy will perform at Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival. He joins headliners Sigrid, Clean Bandit and Two Door Cinema Club alongside dozens of other up-and-coming artists, plus more that have yet to be announced. The festival’s day-to-day line-up can be seen below.

Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival takes place from 21 - 23 June 2019 in Donegal's Bundoran. For the past four years, the Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival has sold out weeks in advance. The festival started in 2008 as an after party for a surfing competition. Now, it hosts the top surfing competition in the country as well as the world’s best skateboarders and BMXers. The site is also popular for other beach sports.

Sea Sessions Surf & Music Festival has won the title of IMRO Festival of the Year at the 2017 IMRO awards along with the gong for Festival of the Year at the Excellence in Local Government Awards. Supported by and in collaboration with the Donegal County Council and Fáilte Ireland, the event kick-starts the tourist season for Bundoran, the capital of Irish surfing.

Since the release of his April 2017 EP Doves and Ravens and follow-up single ‘Moments Passed,’ Dermot Kennedy’s music has skyrocketed to over 300 million plays on streaming platforms. Dermot’s fan base has recently grown, and he has begun playing live shows across the UK, Europe and America. With over 100,000 tickets sold in 2018 including a sold-out headline world tour, tickets for Dermot’s upcoming spring tour were bought up quickly – including a date at the legendary O2 Academy Brixton and four nights at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre. In the wave of success generated by his single ‘Power Over Me,’ Dermot Kennedy was named by the BBC’s Sound Of, YouTube, Ticketmaster and MTV Push as a key artist to watch in 2019.

Speaking about the Rathcoole native, festival director Ray O’Donoghue said: "Dermot Kennedy’s been on our radar for a while now and we’re absolutely thrilled that he’s joined this year’s line-up. He’s a perfect fit for Sea Sessions.”
