MIX lecturer Brendan Canty directed a short narrative film surrounding Dermot Kennedy's Electric Picnic 2019 performance that brilliantly captures the rush of emotions that come along with a first festival experience.
Brendan Canty, director of Hozier's 'Take Me to Church' video, has put together a short film recounting the Irish singer-songwriter's monumental mainstage set at Electric Picnic 2019.
The film, called All My Friends, follows a two friends as they experience Electric Picnic and eventually Kennedy's set, all set to his hit 'All My Friends'. It stars Irish actors Jordanne Jones and Lauryn Canny and was filmed one day.
Canty was commissioned to make a narrative film featuring Dermot's landmark performance that underlined just how far he has risen in recent years.
He said, "I wanted to capture the youthful euphoria of a first festival experience - the magical highs, disappointments and redemptions between friends."
"We somehow pulled this off - and I’m super proud of it!’’ he added.

Of the performance, Kennedy said it was "the best live moment I've ever had." He added, "Singing these songs to a sea of people at home meant so much."
