The Coachella-bound musician shot the video on Inis Mór.
Dermot Kennedy has rapidly become a massive force on the Irish music scene over the last number of months. The singer-songwriter released his latest track, ‘For Island Fires and Family,’ last Friday, as part of a collection of his back catalogue.
The reflective song, which has long been a fan favourite at Kennedy’s live shows, has now received its own music video. Brendan Canty, the director behind Hozier’s breakthrough ‘Take Me To Church’, shot the video on location on Inis Mór, one of the Aran Islands.
Kennedy has explained that the location, which is the same island referenced in the song’s title, is “a really important place in my story and holds a lot of very precious memories.”
With a May 2019 tour already sold out, as well as a confirmed slot at Coachella, this year looks to see Kennedy’s career soar even higher. The Dublin-based musician’s global streaming numbers have topped over 320 million, and continue to rise.

Kennedy also took to Twitter to promise that his highly anticipated debut album “is in the works.”
