The new EP from the Derry pop-punk three piece is all killer and no filler.
Fast-rising Northern Irish trio Cherym have today released their new EP Hey Tori via Alcopop! Records.
The EP includes their massively popular singles 'Kisses On My Cards', 'Listening To My Head' and 'We're Just Friends', along with two incredible new tracks - 'Gone Girl' and 'She's Enough Going On'.
Combining the bands fearless punk energy, stellar pop hooks and addictive rock swagger, Hey Tori is the sound of a world emerging from lockdown - joined at the arm, resounding choruses and stacks of intoxicating live energy. The perfect antidote to the doldrum of the oncoming autumn and winter, this newest release from Cherym is one of the essential records of the year.
Recorded in Vada Studios with George Perks (The Darkness, Mogwai, Mallory Knox, Maximo Park), Hey Tori was written by the band during lockdown. Being stuck inside with nothing else to do led to a more collaborative writing process between the trio.
"Normally Hannah would've took the main lead," explained bassist Nyree. "But whenever Covid hit, we had all the spare time and we were like, what if we try something different. So because we couldn't come together a lot with Covid, we just started writing by ourselves, and then bringing it to the table, to see how everybody was feeling, like could we add anything to this and make it Cherym? And that's how all the songs on the EP have worked out."

"So it's a very I think it's a very strong EP, we did well. All killer, no filler, it's class."
"I suppose we were ready for it because like we didn't really have much else to do," said drummer Hannah. "And we had all this time to practice and rearrange the songs. Like we're going back to the studio now in November, and we haven't had time to practice because like we're gigging again. "
The band recently announced a jam-packed run of UK tour dates with friends ARXX and Brand New Friend, playing a different city every night from October 6th to 17th (See below for the full list of dates).
"The adrenaline rush!" says Hannah when I ask them what they're looking forward to most about getting back to live shows.
"I honestly just like love chatting to people after gigs when you're like on a pure high from just playing," she continues.
"Like everybody's around you and everybody's just pure buzzing and in a good mood - that's something we really missed about gigs and festivals. We haven't been able to do that with live streams you can't talk to people during, or have a beer with them."
The trio are also set to perform online for Ireland Music Week 2021 on Tuesday October 5th.

Serving up a zingy, fearless new recipe for pop punk rock, Cherym are a three-piece from Derry in Northern Ireland with some seriously infectious songwriting credentials. Taking influence from The Smashing Pumpkins, Bikini Kill, American Football, PUP and Pixies, the trio formed after meeting in college over a joint love of garage rock, pop punk and a desire to be the biggest band in the world.
Previous singles ‘Kisses On My Cards’ and ‘Listening To My Head’ caused a storm among new music enthusiasts across UK media and also landed on Spotify’s New Punk Tracks and The Punk List. ‘Listening To My Head’ has also been shortlisted for the NI Music Prize.
