Having previously drawn inspiration from the Irish language and his late actor/male model dad, Des Bishop’s newfound love of drumming is celebrated in Des Bishop Likes To Bang, his new show which debuts on May 19 in Portlaoise’s Heritage Hotel.

After that it’s off to Vicar St., Dublin (May 25 & 26, June 22 & 23); Maritime Hotel, Cork (June 29); and INEC, Killarney (July 7); Ulster Hall, Belfast (October 20); Athlone Springs Hotel (November 3); and Royal Theatre, Castlebar (10). More dates are sure to be added along the way.

‘It’s going to be a bit silly, a bit musical, a bit improvised,” Bishop explains. ‘The title comes from being given an electronic drum-kit as a gift recently. I started messing around with it and ended up behind a set on stage. It went really well, so I’ve put together a comedy show with a bit of rhythm in it.”
