Derek Carr is known for his approximation of Detroit techno, but on his debut for Geek, he also covers lush, Larry Heard house and the kind of ambient soundscape you’d expect from John Beltran. However, the lead track boasts heart-stopping chords and a pulsating bassline, proof that Carr is still one of most talented proponents of Motor City soul.
