HBO reveals the directors for the next season of Game of Thrones, which include GOT regulars Jeremy Podeswa, Alan Taylor and Mark Mylod, along with newcomer Matt Shakman.
The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is drawing closer for the Game of Thrones series.
With an estimated 13 or so episodes left in this epic show's run, the loose ends and remaining storylines will finally be given the closure that fans have been waiting for since GOT's beginning. The biggest storyline, of course, being the fate of Westeros; Who will ultimately rule on the Iron Throne?
The season six finale has set the stage for what is to come in the Game of Thrones universe. All of the storylines that have been slowly building since the show's beginning will finally converge into one, and now fans get to know who will be directing some of the precious few episodes that remain.

Three of the directors, Jeremy Podeswa, Alan Taylor and Mark Mylod, have already worked with Game of Thrones, but one is coming into the series late in the game. GOT newbie Matt Shakman directed Fargo and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia with relative success, so his episodes are sure to be interesting.
If GOT sticks with the habit of giving each director two episodes to helm, as it has done in the past, the upcoming season will most likely consist of 8 episodes in total. The last two seasons of GOT are rumoured to be shorter than the previous seasons, so the two episode rule would make sense, but nothing has been confirmed at this time.
