We’ve been hearing awfully good things about the Twin Headed Wolf live show, so rather than biding our time until they hit the Irish festival circuit this summer, we thought we’d make like a bunch of creeps and do a little preliminary online detective work. Twin Headed Wolf are, by the way, a refreshingly unique folk duo made up of twin sisters Branwen and Julie Kavanagh. The Dublin-born, Clare-raised siblings use piano, guitar, loop station, musical saw, melodica, Jew’s harp and a collection of homemade instruments, including what looks like a small milk jug to make their beguiling, melody-driven sounds, which all adds up to an ingenious mix of old and new. Here’s what a YouTube search threw up – a haunting, witchy cover of Tom Waits’ ‘Diamonds And Gold’ that’s left us itching for more.
