Belfast-based label Mixmaster Recordings has just re-launched with the release of Piliavin & Zimbardo’s ‘Dirty Sanchez’/Drama’ single. DJs supporting the tribal/tech house double-header include Aussie Anthony Pappa and German Timo Maas… Another Irish label has also returned. Dublin deep house stamp Blusoul, from the makers of the Spin FM radio show of the same name, has released its long overdue third single, Fresh & Low’s Bodypoppin’ EP. The three-tracker has been getting huge support from DJs such as Charles Webster and Miguel Migs… Fatboy Slim’s new album Palookaville, set to be a rock affair, is to be released on Skint in October… The Chemical Brothers are to re-launch their underground label Electronic Battle Weapon this autumn…
The August DJ and Digital Music Academy (DDMA) will be held on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th August at the Digital Hub, Thomas Street, Dublin 8. In Waterford, the annual Spraoi festival runs this weekend. On Sunday, at The Plaza on the quays, local club Musiklab presents MTV Mash’s Eclectic method from 7.30 to 10.30pm, and admission is free. Musiklab is also hosting the Spraoi Festival club at The Forum. Weekend tickets priced e30 are available now from The Forum, BPM Records, Rotate Records & Sinnotts Discs. There is no booking fee…
Also in Co Waterford, at seaside resort Tramore, this Sunday sees the return of Revolution to South. The main room is trance central, with German star DJ Scot Project and London producer Tall Paul – whose new album Globetrotting is out next month – in one arena, and a hard dance marathon hosted by Nukleuz Records in the second room. Top of the Nukleuz bill is Andy Farley, and tickets are on sale this morning from usual outlets nationwide.

Erick Morillo has announced that P Diddy will be performing alongside him at the Subliminal Records annual Ibiza party at Pacha on August 4th… Officials in American city Chicago have decreed that August 24th will now be called ‘Frankie Knuckles Day’, in tribute to the legendary US DJ. They are also renaming a stretch of Jefferson Highway, where The Warehouse was located, ‘Honorary Frankie Knuckles Way’. The Warehouse is the club where Knuckles pioneered house music with a six-year residency that began in 1977...
