Put on your party hats — there won’t be cake, but there will be three floors of jams featuring more than 18 live acts helping to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to DimeStore Recordings duo that have spent the last 5 years encouraging Dublin’s underground music scene.
The party will be a good time that can be guaranteed to be worth your money given that, like always, DimeStore Recordings is keeping it free. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. at The Sweeney Mongrel (32 Dame St. Dublin 2) and end at 2:30 a.m.
DimeStore Records is a weekly live music night at The Sweeney Mongrel that fosters Dublin’s underground music scene. Two best buds with passion for live gigs, musician Peter Pureheart and sound engineer Andy Cullen founded DimeStore Records in 2009, and it’s been growing ever since.
“Andy and myself realized that there was not enough for unsigned bands in this city. There were a few nights, but they were mostly for just singers and songwriters. The scene was there, but it wasn’t as hopping as it is now,” Peter says. “We have documented and recorded almost every night of the last five years so we have a two-track recording of every band to give back to them”
Come out tonight and catch acts like She’s a Beauty, Wyvern Lingo, Bagels, Sarah Red and Million Little Gods in addition to having the chance to get your picture taken for the upcoming Hot Press Magazine.
Peter predicts there will be loads of craic, as it’s not just their party, but your’s too.
“We never thought it was going to be as big as it is now. It just turned into something that we are delighted to do for Dublin’s music lovers. You are DimeStore. Not just us. DimeStore is for everyone out there.”
