Trump announced that the album sales of young singer Jackie Evancho have "skyrocketed" since it was announced she would be singing at his inauguration. As a fellow Hot Press journalist points out, there's also another way of looking at it.
Donald Trump has once again used his infamous Twitter account and his obsession with big words to make an exaggeration so misleading that it definitely counts as another lie. According to a tweet from Trump yesterday, the album sales for 16-year-old singer Jackie Evancho, who is scheduled to perform the American National Anthem at his inauguration, have "skyrocketed" since she was confirmed to be the starring feature at the event.

The statement is either simply overreaching or a lie, depending on what your definition of the word "skyrocketed" is. As another Hot Press journalist notes, another way of looking at it is, "they've gone up from fuck-all to slightly-more-than-fuck-all."
Specifically, Evancho's newest studio album, Someday at Christmas, went from 6,000 copies sold to 11,000, and then right back down to 8,000. So yes, the sales of the album did go up around the announcement made around December 22, but that might also have something to do with the fact that it was Christmas, when sales for Christmas albums do tend to rise. Evancho also performed on the America’s Got Talent holiday special on December 19, an event that had a lot to do with Christmas and not much to do with Donald Trump.
The young singer has released five studio albums before Someday at Christmas, including another Christmas album titled Heavenly Christmas. Though her Christmas albums did receive more attention during the holiday season, there has been no change in the sales of the other albums following news of her upcoming inauguration performance.
