Haunting piano underpins the spoken word and vocals.
Irish spoken word artist and songwriter Donnie Dublin has teamed up with singer-songwriter Rachel Barror to release an emotive new piece called ‘Dublin City Lights’.
Coming off the back of two successful spoken word pieces, ‘AA’ and ‘Circles’, the duo have managed to bring two genres together to create a very unique sound.
Originally from Dublin and now based in London, Barror has worked with various producers as a featured artist and top liner, and writes and performs mostly on piano.
'Dublin City Lights', which started off as a poem, was written at 4am in Clontarf, Dublin. “I was just standing there watching the sun come up over Dublin in midsummer," says Donnie of the piece. "There was literally no one else around, no cars, no people. It was pure bliss and I just felt inspired to write it. It’s rare to feel you have the whole sky to yourself, It’s very moving to be surrounded by silence in a city like Dublin.

"I reached out to Rachel for the collaboration as I knew she was an accomplished artist in her own right, but also being a childhood friend now living in London. Rachel wrote her own story with a beautiful piano piece and vocals."
