Plotzker-Young filed for divorce in 2020, citing "irreconcilable differences" and later alleged that Dr. Dre emotionally and physically abused her in court documents. C/W: This story contains depictions of domestic abuse and violence against women.
Rapper and music producer superstar Dr. Dre has settled his divorce with his now ex-wife Nicole Plotzker-Young for $100 million.
The former member of N.W.A. and the artist behind iconic albums such as The Chronic and 2001, will have to pay $50 million now and the rest in a year's time according to TMZ.
Plotzker filed for divorce in 2020, citing "irreconcilable differences" and later alleged that Dr. Dre emotionally and physically abused her in court documents.
She claims that her ex-husband "held a gun to my head" twice in 2000 and 2001, that he "punched me in the head/face" in 1999 and 2000 and that he "kicked down a door" while she hid "from his rage" in 2016, among other instances of abuse.
Dr. Dre has denied these allegations and claims that Young made up these statements in an attempt to get more money during the divorce proceedings.

In a much earlier example of Dr. Dre being accused of violence against women, he was sued for assaulting the journalist Dee Barnes in 1991 while still a member of N.W.A.
Barnes stated that the rapper "began slamming her face and the right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway." Although her civil suit was settled out of court, Dre was fined $2,500, given two years' probation, and ordered to undergo 240 hours of community service for the assault.
