Drake has announced that the remainder of shows for his Summer Sixteen tour have been put on hold. According to a statement, this delay is due to "a severe ankle injury" which happened "during the tour, which he did the best to power through." Unfortunately, it seems as though Drake's initial determination to continue the tour only "made the injury worse."
The statement promised that the decision to postpone the tour was all for the good of the fans, stating that this was only "to ensure Drake only ever gives fans the performances they deserve."
Drake himself has written to fans of the injury, in statements that showed his determination to continue the tour, but confessed that it was in his best interest to delay the rest of his performances. The rapper stated, "I hate to be told I can't do something, but [I am] under doctor's orders to allow me time to recuperate. I am being forced to postpone the intense three shows in a row in cities which have only ever shown me unconditional support."
When Drake does return, however, he won't be too far from Ireland, as the tour picks up again on January 26 in Glasgow. He will then continue with a stretch of shows throughout the U.K and Europe. Details can be found below.
