Celtic punk band Dropkick Murphys have premiered the video for their new single, ‘Bring It Home’. The American band’s new album, Okemah Rising, dropped May 12th, via the band's Dummy Luck Music label.
Okemah Rising is the continuation of the outfit’s interpretation of the work of folk legend Woody Guthrie, following on from 2022’s This Machine Still Kills Fascists.
‘Bring It Home’ displays a more humorous side of the folk star, featuring guest vocals from Jamie Wyatt, whilst retaining it fit with the Dropkick Murphys’ working class anthems and protest songs that can be found throughout their past two albums. The mixture of animation and found footage in 'Bring It Home's visual sees mid-century America on the edge of modern technological convenience, which sets the scene for Woody’s tale of marital woe.
The group’s latest album features collaborations with folk punkers Violent Femmes on ‘Gotta Get To Peekskill’, and Boston’s Jesse Ahern on ‘Rippin Up The Boundary Line’. The album draws to a close with the fitting and triumphant ‘I’m Shipping Up To Boston – Tulsa Version’- which encompasses an album packed with punch, passion, and power.
