Drummer Jay Weinberg leaves Slipknot after 10 years
After almost a decade, the heavy metal band, Slipknot has announced that their drummer Jay Weinberg has departed due to a "creative decision".
According to a statement on Slipknot's website, Jay Weinberg leaving the band was a "creative decision".
The band expressed gratitude for Jay's "dedication and passion," but stated their intention to evolve.
The 33-year-old joined the band in 2014 after the departure of their original drummer, Joey Jordison.
Jordison, who died at the age of 46 in 2021 eight years after leaving the band, helped Slipknot to create their signature sound.
After their formation in 1995, the band gained extreme popularity thanks to their aggressive style and the horror masks they wore when performing. They have swapped out band members several times in the past.
They released their self-titled album in 1999, going on to sell millions of albums and even winning a Grammy.
Fans are not too pleased with the band's decision to "part ways" with Jay Weinberg – with one expressing that this is "the worst decision Slipknot have ever made."
Others are also questioning why the band keeps losing members – referencing the departure of keyboardist Craig Jones earlier this year.
