British pop star Dua Lipa has had an ecstatic reaction to the news of her VMA nominations.
The 'Hotter Than Hell' singer has been nominated in three different categories including, Song of the Year, for the smash hit single, 'New Rules'; Best Choreography for her video 'IDGAF'; and Best Dance, for her collaboration with Calvin Harris on the track 'One Kiss'. This is the first year that Dua Lipa has been nominated for a VMA.
The 23 year old has risen to meteoric rise in the last year, due to her strong feminist-inspired pop and striking gender-defying image.
She shared her excitement on social media, thanking fans for their continued support.

Dua Lipa faces some stiff competition in the 'Best Song' category with singers like Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, Bruno Mars and Drake also receiving nominations.
DJ Calvin Harris also thanked MTV and the VMA's for the recognition.
US pop star Shawn Mendes also received three nominations including Best Pop, Best Cinematography and Best Direction for his song 'In My Blood'.
The 'Treat You Better' singer stole the awards show last year with a performance of 'There's Nothin' Holdin Me Back'.

Pop princess Ariana Grande expressed her graditude on Twitter. The singer has been nominated for 5 awards, including Video of The Year for 'No Tears Left to Cry'. The 24 year old is set to release her fourth studio album Sweetener next month.

The VMA's will take place on 21 August.
