The Lucan artist's first solo project in four years is set to arrive next month.
Rapper and songwriter Marvell is gearing up for what looks set to be one of the top Irish hip-hop releases of 2019. Four years after his last solo release, he's back with his highly-anticpated new EP, Full Energy, which arrives on November 1.
Whether delivering high-energy sets as the lead vocalist with Dublin-based hip-hop group Loud Motive, or commanding the stage on his own, Marvell has yet to miss a step. Since the release of his debut mixtape, The Playbook, he's been busy honing his skills and carving out his own unique space in the Irish hip-hop boom.
As a solo artist performing under the name DVO Marvell, the Dublin rapper built up an impressive profile that included a support slot for Lil Wayne and a set at Hard Working Class Heroes. Drawing influence from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Drake and J.Cole, his well-received 2014 release, Before We Started, featured appearances from rising stars Damola and Sam Ojo.
Marvell has also gained acclaim as a member of Loud Motive. Combining the soulful introspection of Golden Age conscious rap with the passionate energy of a block party, the group have made major waves since emerging on the scene in 2015.
Produced by FITGZ, with additional production from Money Mak, and engineered by Simba Bianchi, Full Energy arrives on all platforms on November 1. In the meantime, listen to Marvell's 'Real Is Back (Freestyle)' below:
