The Dún Laoghaire Folk Festival will take place at the Pavilion Theatre from August 30th to September 5th, 2021.
The inaugural year of the Folk Festival in Dún Laoghaire will present nine wonderful live events reflecting the modern and diverse perspectives of Irish folk music.
The festival has been funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media and has secured some of the most sought after names in folk for the line-up including: Christy Moore, Villagers, the Fire Draw Near podcast hosted by Ian Lynch of Lankum, Lisa O’Neill & Ingrid Lyons, Lemoncello, Junior Brother, The Mary Wallopers, John Francis Flynn, and Bob Gallagher.
After such a tough year for live music, seeing a new festival spring to life is a much-needed boost, confirming that the entertainment industry has yet to loose its fire.
Foggy Notions, who host the festival, have high hopes for its future.
"We believe this festival has the potential to flourish over many years and become a vital fixture, not just in the Dún Laoghaire Rathdown arts calendar but in the national festival diary," a spokesperson says.

Each of the nine events will be run at a limited capacity due to social distancing and will carefully adhere to all government pandemic guidelines to maximise the safety and comfort of all who attend.
