Their announcement sparked a serious buzz last year – and now Dyson's futuristic-looking, noise-cancelling headphones with on-the-go air purification are finally here, with The Dyson Zone available to purchase in Ireland tomorrow, May 17, from Dyson.ie. It will also be available to buy in Dyson Demo Stores from Friday, May 26.

Promising to provide a pure, immersive listening experience, the headphones were created after five years of research and development, while also drawing from Dyson's 30 years of expertise in airflow, filtration and motors technologies.

Uniquely, The Dyson Zone headphones are engineered to tackle the "dual challenges of city noise and air pollution" – responding to the fact that more than half of the global population lives in cities.

The detachable visor projects purified air to the wearer's nose and mouth. Electrostatic filters capture 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, while K-Carbon, potassium-enriched carbon filters target the acidic gases most associated with city pollution, including NO2 and SO2.

The headphones have also been engineered to deliver high fidelity, immersive audio with ultra-low distortion and a broad frequency range for clarity across bass, mids and highs. Driven by scientific metrics and validated by broad user trialling, Dyson engineers identified the specification that gives the most clarity and detail across the full audio spectrum – with the company creating a unique EQ setting that optimises the frequency curve for clear, pure audio across the full audible frequency range.

A microphone is also incorporated into The Dyson Zone, allowing for phone calls, voice recording and voice control.

The MyDyson app can be used to control the Dyson Zone, adjust airflow speed and noise-cancellation mode as well as adapt the audio equalisation to your personal preference.

You can also expect 50 hours of audio-only run-time, or four hours of combined purification and audio run-time – charging to 100% in three hours.

The Dyson Zone headphones that will be available to purchase tomorrow include:

• The Dyson Zone Absolute in Prussian Blue + Bright Copper for €919 (including 2 pairs of filters, cleaning brush, USB-C charging cable, visor sleeve, travel case, in-flight adaptor kit and dust bag)
