Take a look at the video for the new track below, featuring artwork by David Rooney.
Following the release of their self-titled project earlier this year, Echotal are back with a new single , 'Endless Fields'.
Featuring vocals and guitar from David Rooney, as well as keyboards and harmony vocals from the other half of Echotal, Jay Wilson, 'Endless Fields' was produced, mixed and mastered by God Is An Astronaut's Torsten Kinsella, who also plays synths on the track.
"‘Endless Fields’ was a part of the Echotal debut EP recording sessions," David Rooney reveals. "The idea behind the song was recalling trips years ago to warmer countries and driving through lush landscapes with picturesque farmland filled with produce ready for harvesting and picking.
"The work usually carried out by poorly paid faceless figures in the fields. I imagined a couple, both fruit pickers, he had a dream the night before where they were the ones driving, like us, through a beautiful landscape without a care in the world… where they can do as they please."
The original song was remixed by Snow Ghosts, and released as 'Endless' for Echotal.

"They found a darker sentiment in the song which was amazing," David resumes. "It was really interesting to revisit the song. Producer Torsten Kinsella built on the song’s guitar chord progression and took the track on a journey to create a celebratory instrumental outro."
Torsten adds that 'Endless Fields' was the very first song he heard from David's new material.
"There was something haunting in the melody that appealed to me," he says. "I knew the song needed an ending so we came up with the idea to take it somewhere unpredictable but still stay true to the original composition.”
The accompanying video for the track features artwork by David, animated by Simone Heineck.
"I’ve recently been exploring the idea of minimal movement animated videos, working again with Glasgow based German animator Simone Heineck," David elaborates. "We both have been busy working together on Christy Moore videos lately for his forthcoming album Flying into Mystery."
'Endless Fields’ is available on echotal.bandcamp.com , Spotify and iTunes, while the artwork can be seen on davidrooney.com
