The 'Galway Girl' singer has said he can't read any more nasty comments.
Ed Sheeran has said he is no longer using Twitter, citing ongoing abuse he receives on the platform.
In an interview with The Sun Sheeran said he has stopped using the site entirely. "I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things," he said.
The singer recently had to explain to fans that he hadn't been using a backing track at his Glastonbury performance, after several concertgoers took to Twitter to complain. He tweeted: "Never thought I'd have to explain it, but everything I do in my live show is live, it's a loop station, not a backing track. Please google x"
Sheeran also refenced an incident earlier this year when he received abuse from Lady Gaga fans after they assumed comments he had made in an interview referred to her.
The 26-year-old star has over 19 million followers on Twitter, and has said the only thing he'll share from now on are automatic updates from his Instagram. He says he's "been trying to work out why people dislike me so much."
