Ed Sheeran has released a new single titled 'Azizam', along with an official music video.
The track, named after a Persian term of endearment meaning “my dear” or “my beloved,” began as a studio session with Swedish-Iranian producer Ilya Salmanzadeh. The song blends Persian and Irish folk music, marking a stylistic shift for Sheeran away from his Mathematics era.
“Even though it’s completely different to anything that I’ve ever done before, 'Azizam' feels familiar to me," Sheeran said. "I wanted to create a party atmosphere in a song and Ilya Salmanzadeh, who I worked with on the track, helped bring that to life. He was so inspiring to work with.”
Ed Sheeran has released seven label studio albums, beginning with his debut, 2011's + (Plus). He has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time. He has won four Grammys and seven Brit Awards, among other accolades.
