The song is set to arrive on July 26, the anniversary of the late signer's death.
Singer-songwriter Edel Meade has announced the release of the single, ‘For Sinéad,’ a tribute to Irish music icon Sinéad O’Connor.
The track is described in a press statement as a “lyrical homage to the iconic Sinéad O’Connor, whose indomitable spirit and powerful voice left an indelible mark on the world” which “captures the essence of O’Connor’s courage, strength, and enduring influence in Ireland and across the globe.”

"Sinéad O’Connor was a trailblazer, a true warrior woman who wasn’t afraid to speak her truth,” said Meade. “'For Sinéad' is my way of honouring her legacy and expressing the deep gratitude felt by Mná na hÉireann (women of Ireland) and beyond."
The single marks Meade’s first new music since her album Brigids and Patricias, which cast a lens on womanhood in contemporary Ireland and was released in line with International Women’s Day in 2021. Originally hailing from Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, the singer also received critical acclaim for her debut album Blue Fantasia in 2017.
Elsewhere, the Co. Tipperary artist recently explored the similarities between Mexican and Irish culture in a special feature for Hot Press’ May issue.
