Following the release of his 9th solo album, Edwin Collins will play Liberty Hall Theatre and The Belfast Empire this September
Aiken Promotions proudly presents Edwyn Collins live at Liberty Hall Theatre, September 14 and The Belfast Empire, September 15.
Having released his last album Understated in March 2013, Collins’ 9th solo album Badbea is his first release since moving to Halmsdale on the North East coast of Scotland in 2014.
The album was released on his own label, AED, and was co-produced by Sean Read and long-term musical cohorts Carwyn Ellis and James Walbourne.
Inspired, in part, by his return to the village where his grandfather lived and somewhere the musician spent time over the years, the album itself and title track are taken from Badbea, a dramatically located abandoned village on a cliff top five miles North of Helmsdale with a history defined by the Highland Clearances of the 18th and 19th centuries.
The album is scattered with poignant moments of reflection, classic Collins northern soul ‘stompers’ and lyrics inspired by the discovery of over 30 pre-illness lyric books.
His fourth long-player since suffering two strokes in 2005, Badbea is an eloquent and contemplative documentation of his remarkable and on-going rehabilitation.

In a statement, Edwyn reflected, “It’s all about looking forward, I guess. I’m happy. Content with life.”
In the past few years, Edwyn has scored his share of films, including the much-acclaimed biographical The Possibilities Are Endless (2014) and the forthcoming Sometimes. Always. Never. with Sean Read.
Tickets will cost €30.00 / £24.00 and will go on sale Friday 26 at 9am.
