ELECTRIC PICNIC: Parquet Courts are bringing '70s punk rock back
Punk rock at its best
The gloomy atmosphere at the Cosby Tent by night was the perfect location for Parquet Courts and their dark, experimental punk rock. It was so dark, you couldn't even properly see their faces. But that only added to the mystification.
Fans of good old punk rock from the '70s definitely got their money's worth. Parquet Courts were literally shouting out the lyrics to their songs, accompanied by heavy guitar riffs and high-speed drums.
But the set had its quieter moments, too. They went from monotonous '70s punk to experimental psychedelic rock pretty fast. It worked though and made for a versatile set.
If they were shouting out lyrics or were getting lost in improvised parts, it was apparent that these are musicians who feel their music with every part of their bodies. Punk rock is alive and going strong!
