Electric Picnic is almost upon us!

With the festival's line-up shaping up quite nicely, filled with incredible acts from both Ireland and abroad, organisers have revealed an incredible addition to the weekend.

The jaw-dropping arts show, Human Seed will be brought to Ireland exclusively for Electric Picnic. Created by La Fura dels Baus, the performance is expected to be a show-stopping spectacle that will delight and enthrall audiences!

La Fura dels Baus is a Catalan theatre group known for their urban twist on theatre, combining elements of danger with slapstick comedy, with a dash of fantastical illusion. The group have performed to packed out theatres all over the globe, most recently at New York’s Lincoln Center. The New York Times describing the show as a “Dazzling ‘Creation’ that ‘Brought Light to Lincoln Center'.

The new show, directed by Pera Tantiñà, will tell the story of how humans grow and come together, using symbolism to show the flowers of life and for the germination of humanity. It is said to "go beyond the limits of what has ever been witnessed to date." The theatrical troupe will enlist the help of 55 Irish volunteers to create a "human net". Taking center stage, the net will ascend to a "death-defying 40 feet" over the wondrous eyes of the picnickers at Stradbally Hall.

If that wasn't dramatic enough, there will also be a 10 meter moving TRANSFORMER style puppet which will light up the night sky.

The Human Seed

The flower of life can only be found in the mountain of Nanic. Neira was the only one courageous enough to volunteer to go find the flower so that humanity could blossom again. She sang to the Gods to join forces with her and they gave her the strength of a Titan. She travelled through the woods and used her singing to drive away the evil. In Nanic, she found the flower of life but when she tried to pick it, the flower opened and decomposed into thousands of seeds. Neira sang again to the Gods crying with despair, but when her licks touched the ground, the kernels from the flower of life begin to grow and humanity germinated from those human seeds.
