Post Punk Podge looks ahead to the big weekend in Stradbally...
"2007 was the first time I went to Electric Picnic as a punter. The Beastie Boys were the highlight for me – they were unreal. I played the festival for the first time in 2018 and it was fairly hectic. I can remember getting electrocuted because some water fell on to the mic, but other than that, the gig went well, it was good fun! This year I’d like to see Lankum, and the line-up for the Croí stage looks good too.
"We’ll do a pretty banging set, full of stuff for people to dance to. We might have a new song ready for it, hopefully. We have a new album coming out in October – we’re just in the last stages of mixing it at the moment. Of course, there’ll be plenty of shenanigans like there usually are at our gigs.
"We’ve made our name playing festivals – people just seem to get us more as a live act. I don't know if that’s because they're more inebriated! At festivals we go up a level, because we bring a brass section with us. I just love the buzz and the energy, and getting the crowd going."
Post Punk Podge & The Technohippies play the Trailer Park at Electric Picnic 2024 on Sunday, August 18.
