Sunday night in the Electric Arena provides the EP weekend with one of its great debating points - was Mike Skinner really as tired and emotional as he appeared or just playing the geezer role? As someone who's regularly tired and emotional myself, I'm going for the former. Skinner literally does not stop talking for the whole of The Streets' hour-long set, with his weed is bad/Guinness is good dissertation one of the curiouser between song raps. He also spends a lot of time at the barrier swigging people's beer - "It's not piss in there?" he inquires before downing a can of something horrible and American - and giving champagne away to the ladies. It's weird but wonderful with the Original Pirate Material tunes still sounding as edgy and caustic as they did back in the day. Needless to say, it's 'Dry Your Eyes Mate' and 'Fit But You Know It' that bring the tent down. It's good to have the old rascal back!
