The Dublin pop-rock group prove that they've no trouble holding their own among the big name headliners with a riotous set on the Main Stage.
Ahead of their Hot Press Chatroom appearance this afternoon, Wild Youth brought their bold, high-energy show to Electric Picnic's Main Stage. The Dublin pop-rock collective have long been Hot Press favourites, and with one of the finest Main Stage sets this weekend, they proved they've no problem holding their own among the big name headliners.
It would be easy to dismiss Wild Youth as another flash-in-the-pan boy band, but their charismatic stage presence and natural charm result in a raw authenticity that other pop groups can only aspire after. Equally, the four piece aren't afraid to embrace the more riotous side of pop-rock - and with vocalist/guitarist Dave Whelan's bright green buzz cut, it's clear they're more than happy to throw the typical boy band image to the wind.
Their early hit single 'Lose Control' remains a firm fan favourite, and the adoring crowd didn't have any trouble following the the title's call to action. Wild Youth noted the impressive turn-out too. "Are you a bit hanging today?" they asked, before thanking the crowd for coming out at 1.15pm - practically the crack of dawn by festival standards.
The group also took the time to reflect on their journey so far - reminiscing about sneaking into Electric Picnic three years, before getting kicked out by security.

Other stand outs of the set included 'Last Goodbye', the title track from their debut EP, and the crowd-pleasing 'Can't Move On' - before Wild Youth launched into an obligatory 'Olé, Olé, Olé' chant to celebrate one of the landmark gigs of their career so far.
