British icon Elton John has been announced as the first headline act for next summer's Glastonbury Festival. It'll take place June 21st to 25th at its usual Worthy Farm location in Somerset.
The 'Rocket Man' is currently on his worldwide Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which began in 2018. The Glastonbury performance is set to be the final show of the musicians tour and his career, after more than 3,500 concerts worldwide over five decades.
Glastonbury's official account tweeted, "We are incredibly excited to announce that the one and only @EltonOfficial will headline the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night for Glastonbury 2023, for what will be the final show of his last ever tour."

This past year's festival saw headline performances from Billie Eilish, Paul McCartney and Kendrick Lamar. Diana Ross performed in the Sunday Legends slot which John will take over next year.
No other performers are confirmed yet, however there are rumours circulating about Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift, Eminem, and Harry Styles.
Back in October, an announcement of the festival's ticket prices caused some concern. The tickets are listed for £335 plus a £5 booking fee, up £70 in the last three years. The festival's co-organiser Emily Eavis explained that the "incredibly challenging times" call for the price raise. Nonetheless, the festival sold out within an hour when tickets went on sale on the 6th of November.
