The album is accompanied by a music video for 'Darkness,' which references the 2017 Las Vegas shooting in which a man targeted concertgoers from his hotel room.
Eminem has just released a new album, titled Music To Be Murdered By, along with a music video for the song 'Darkness.'
Music To Be Murdered By is 20 tracks long and features the likes of Ed Sheeran, the late Juice WRLD, Q-Tip, Anderson .Paak and more. The record follows Eminem's 2018 release Kamikaze, which was also dropped as a surprise.
'Darkness' tackles gun violence in America. Eminem raps from the perspective of a shooter targeting concertgoers from a hotel room, a reference to the 2017 shooting in Las Vegas where a man opened fire on a crowd of concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest festival, killing 58 and wounding 413. The video contains chilling the chilling visual of a man shooting out of his hotel room, met with panicked screams. It ends with a compilation of news reports from mass shootings, as he urges viewers to register to vote to change gun laws.
Within less than a day, he's already been criticized for his lyrical choices elsewhere on the album. On 'Unaccommodating,' featuring Young M.A., he referenced the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing in which 22 were killed by a suicide bomber at an Ariana Grande concert.
“I’m contemplating yelling ‘Bombs away’ on the game/Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting," he raps.

Users took to Twitter to complain about the line being insensitive, while others came to Eminem's defence.

Seeing eminem all over the trending page for some lyrics. Specifically the Manchester bombing and let me just say......his name is slim shady and he's been doing that shit for 20 plus years. Quit being a sensitive prick and just listen to the god damn music bruh. pic.twitter.com/ClzZ4lddXr
