Other nominees include Boy George, Alanis Morissette, George Clinton, Sheryl Crow and more.
The nominees for the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) have been unveiled, including the likes of Eminem, Janet Jackson and N.W.A., announced last night. The 26 nominees have been split into two categories: performing and non-performing songwriters.
Just six songwriters will be selected, three from each category. The six inductees will be celebrated at the SHOF’s 2025 Induction & Awards Gala, which will be held on June 12 in New York City.
Alongside Eminem, Janet Jackson and N.W.A., other nominees in the performing songwriters list include Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Bryan Adams, George Clinton and more.
Among the non-performing nominees are Mike Chapman, Sonny Curtis, Franne Golde, Rodney Jerkins, Roger Nichols and more.
All but five of the 26 nominees are individuals. The five collaborative teams on the ballot are Steve Barri and P.F. Sloan; Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter; Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham; three members of The Doobie Brothers (Tom Johnston, Michael McDonald and Patrick Simmons); and five former members of N.W.A. (Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella).
Eligible voting members have up till December 22 to cast their votes, with the inductees expected to be announced sometime in the new year.
