The 21-year-old's shock death is being reported as a drug overdose.
The New York-born rapper, whose real name is Gustav Åhr, had a well-known drug history. In fact, his Wikipedia page entry lists a a half-dozen drugs that he was apparently addicted to.
The rapper released his first mixed tape in 2015 and had become so popular that each of his last four tracks had received 4 million hits each on YouTube.
He was hailed as “the future of emo” only a months ago by Pitchfork.
The shock announcement of his death was made on Twitter by rapper Post Malone. “In the short time that i knew you, you were a great friend to me and a great person. Your music changed the world and it’ll never be the same. I love you bud. forever,” he wrote.

Rapper Marshmello paid tribute this morning, saying: " I cant even believe this. We were just talking last week about working on a song together and now you’re gone. You will be missed, R.I.P."
