The Cork rockers are seriously making up for lost time!
A mere twenty-eight years after forming, Cork guitar merchants Emperor Of Ice Cream are set to release their debut album. First, though, comes a June 12 taster, 'Lambent Eyes'.
They're both appearing on FIFA Records, the Leeside independent run by Ashley Keating from The Frank & Walters.
The chaps have been busy posting old clippings including the one in Hot Press that said: "They may - as they themselves admit - have a bloody silly name and come from Cork but that doesn't mean that Emperor Of Ice Cream are the Sultans Of Ping's second XI. Far from it. The Leesiders' own patented brand of high octane guitar noise was enough to land them a Sony deal before they were even a dozen gigs old and with the release of their debut Overflow EP, the Emperors demonstrated that they're not prepared to live in anyone's shadow - least of all their illustrious neighbours. Get your moshing shorts dry-cleaned, make sure there's plenty of spring in your Air Jordans and prepare to be Iced!"
We're quite proud of that last line... What went right and subsequently wrong will doubtless be discussed in a 2020 issue of Hot Press!
We are delighted to announce that 'Lambent Eyes' is the new single from Emperor of Ice Cream, set for
release on Friday June 12. It's taken from the very long-awaited debut album that we're looking forward to sharing with everyone this summer. It's good to be back folks! pic.twitter.com/h8QI35IRkU— Emperor of Ice cream (@TheEmperorsCork) May 27, 2020
