UK Grim, is the upcoming release from Sleaford Mods, by Rough Trade Records. Due to drop on March 10th, their titular track is directed by Cold War Steve, and available to stream from today.
The duo’s previous three albums have all found a place among the top ten UK charts, with their last album landing at number five. Sure to be heard on the dance floor, the latest single is an urgent and sage-like introspection of the gritty reality of today’s life.
The lead track is directed by British collage artist and satirist Cold War Steve, who has created a series of original artworks for the collaboration, having previously illustrated covers for Time Magazine & The New Statesman.
Their relevance in expressing the current ideas and issues that Jason Williamson's strong words invoke are emphasised by the innovative and immersive production of Andrew Fearn. On this release, the two have collaborated on songs with Jane's Addiction's creative, Perry Farrell and Dave Navarro, and with Florence Shaw, the distinct voice at the heart of British band Dry Cleaning.

Speaking on the sources that have triggered their protest, and the influence of love for the people and places around them in the making of UK Grim, Williamson explained, “Maybe we are proud of the country. Maybe we are proud to be English.”
“Maybe I’m proud of the horrible grey streets and the shit weather and the stupid fashions I find myself investing in. It’s just that the English we’re proud of being is absolutely nothing like the English the authorities want to try and promote,” he continued.
Angry yet artful, Sleaford Mods' upcoming album has been dubbed an innovative yet possessing, and instinctual energy that irresistibly moves bodies and minds, with an erudite electronic vision that truly engages with current times.
Two exclusive live shows have been planned to accompany the upcoming album’s release.
Appearing at Nottingham’s Rocky City on March 14th and the Pryzm in London in conjunction with record shop Banquet the next day, fans can access these by purchasing the new record.
