The previously unreleased song celebrates the late musician, who died this weekend aged 88.
Following the death of Kris Kristofferson on Sunday, country singer-songwriter Eric Church has shared a previously unreleased tribute track for the late singer, songwriter, actor and activist.
‘Kicking It With Kristofferson’, which Church describes as a “worktape” sheds light on a few of the interactions, both onstage and off, that the two country musicians got to share over the years.
Kristofferson was one of Church’s songwriting heroes – he named his one-man show after Kristofferson’s song ‘To Beat the Devil’. The two singers also duetted in the past on songs like ‘Me and Bobby McGee’ and ‘Sunday Mornin’ Coming Down.’

Church had previously shared a tribute to the late music legend on social media, describing his legacy as the “ultimate life well-lived.”
“Thank you for being a beacon of light in a darkening world," he added. "You were my hero and my role model. And even then, you managed to exceed my expectations when you became my friend."
Kristofferson’s family confirmed his death on Sunday, writing in a statement “We’re all so blessed for our time with him. Thank you for loving him all these many years, and when you see a rainbow, know he’s smiling down at us all.”
