"This album is a life-long collection of stories about life, love, and everything in between. I dedicate it to Amy, Leah & Brian, the loves of my life," wrote Penston on her new album, No Fury.
Eurosong finalist Naoimh Penston will perform her debut album No Fury in its entirety at Bray's Mermaid Arts Centre on January 22.
Produced by Mark Cahill of The Ivory Studios, Penston released the album on streaming services on January 1. No Fury, a reflective collection of songs, touches on themes of love and loss. The album showcases Penston’s songwriting and vocal ability, blending rock, country and theatre with more classic influences.
“I began writing what I thought would be my debut album almost thirty years ago,” wrote Penston. “Life had other plans and the next thing I knew, it was now.”
She has worked internationally and within Ireland for over 30 years as a musician, piano teacher, vocal teacher and musical and choral director. Notably, Penston was the runner up for the 1995 Eurovision Irish selection with her song ‘Always You.’ She has also won the Dun Laoghaire Song Contest, in addition to the Unisong International Song Contest.
“The songs on No Fury are deeply personal, but I hope they resonate with you, offering comfort or inspiration in some small way,” wrote Penston. “From the anthemic ‘Everybody Hurts ~ Fix You’ mashup to the gentle, introspective ‘Darling Man’ and ‘All I Have To Say,’ there’s a song for every moment.”

In addition to songwriting, Penston has a history in musical theatre. She won the Spirit of AIMS Award in 2018 for her involvement in Sister Act, where she worked as the musical director and leading lady. Other performances include her lead role in the world premiere of Angel of Broadway in the National Concert Hall in Dublin, as well as The Witch from Into the Woods.
